Our little boy

Feb-Apr2010

Ryan is almost 2 and a half this month. We're finally getting our heads around the idea that he's no longer a baby. We bought him a Big Boy Bed but he hasn't slept in it yet. We're not quite ready to take on that battle.

He's speaking in full sentences and is very good at communicating his wishes. If he's unhappy he'll let you know it. He's mastered the tantrum and I now understand why there are so many spoiled kids: It's just easier to give in. But I try not to. I sometimes think I won't survive the Terrible Twos.

On the other hand he is a very sweet boy. He makes me laugh all the time. He points to and identifies letters in a word and asks, 'What spell is it?' (What does that spell) or a bunch of words in a sentence and asks, 'What say is it?' (What does that say?) He can sing the ABCs almost perfectly (he gets mixed up around the LMNOP part) He enjoys playing the conga drums thanks to Elmo and his imagination (he doesn't have conga drums) and is just now starting to show an interest in music. He pretends to put things in my ear like bunny rabbits, spiders or food. He feeds me pretend food and drinks (He's a good cook.) But my favorite thing is watching him give his Daddy a hug and kiss, then saying ,'I wub you, Daddy.' I have to tell him to say it but it doesn't make it any less cute.

I can't put into works just how cute, funny, clever, creative, imaginative, and special he is. You have to see it for yourself. I miss our little baby but I love the little boy that has taken his place.
