Turnabout is fair play

Remember when I was "live blogging" the EyesWeb conference last week? Well this guy live blogged our presentation! The "Shimmer" thing he mentions is what I'm helping support.

Well, you know what? I'm live blogging this from the EyesWeb post-conference consultations we're having here in Genoa. Top that, Alexander.

Here's a new way to post photos

Live blogging

I'm at the conference in a building called "Casa Paganini." It's on a hill that I have to walk up and down a few times every day. Apparently it was bombed in WWII.

It's a shame that this nice old building got damaged, but Italy is full of this kind of stuff. I mean to say, if you can't bomb nice old buildings then what are you going to bomb? You've got to bomb something!

I'll be speaking briefly about our work in a few minutes. I'm not nervous because the quality of the other presentations hasn't been all that great. My own talk won't seem so bad by comparison.

Happy Valentine's.

I'm live blogging from EyesWeb Week 2008

Yes. I'm in a very old looking grand hall in the old town part of Genoa. Somebody is talking. I'm not really listening, because I'm live blogging!

SITREP 2008-02-06 (another movie)

Forward Operating Base - Dublin
February 6, 2008, Ryan is 3 months old today.

Riko spent more time at the Japanese embassy. We're doing what we can to get Ryan triple citizenship. The Japanese component is proving a little tricky because we didn't amend the Koseki.

A Koseki is a sort of official family tree document, near as I can figure, and it's best to have that squared away at marriage. We didn't. Who knew?

He's got Irish citizenship already and so should have the right to work and own property anywhere in the EU. We'll be setting him up with US citizenship and a passport pretty soon.

The goal of getting him Japanese citizenship is simply to give him every possible option. Who knows? Forty years ago they thought nuclear power was the future. Thirty years ago we were facing devastating global cooling. Twenty years ago the Japanese were going to own America. Ten years ago they thought... well who cares what they thought?

In 2008 nuclear power is back. Therefore 2028 is the year of the Japanese.

Anyway, I've added a new, brief video to the previously posted album. Just click below and look for the new thing.
