Snails, R2D2 at Maker Faire, trains and popcorn
May2010 |
Here are some photos from a few months ago. We went to the Maker Faire with some friends back in May where Ryan met R2D2 for the first time. He insists on calling him 2D2D. He likes to play with snails and I'm trying to teach him to use chopsticks. I think he did a pretty good job for his first time!

Country House, Horses, Llamas, Snow...
We spent a long weekend with friends near Redding. Ryan loved it. He had a lot of 'firsts.' He fed horses and llamas some grass, played with snakes, lizards and various insects, and was wheeled around in a wheelbarrow by his friend Jeff.
We went to Mt. Lassen National Park and played in the snow. Ryan even went down a small hill in a toboggan (more like a plastic trash can lid) all by himself. He smiled the whole way down. The video is towards the end of the album.

Early April Foolery

A whole mess of photos from the nearby playground, the Zoo (with Jackson), the house, but mostly the model railroad exhibit at the conservatory of flowers in GG park.

Our little boy
Feb-Apr2010 |
Ryan is almost 2 and a half this month. We're finally getting our heads around the idea that he's no longer a baby. We bought him a Big Boy Bed but he hasn't slept in it yet. We're not quite ready to take on that battle.
He's speaking in full sentences and is very good at communicating his wishes. If he's unhappy he'll let you know it. He's mastered the tantrum and I now understand why there are so many spoiled kids: It's just easier to give in. But I try not to. I sometimes think I won't survive the Terrible Twos.
On the other hand he is a very sweet boy. He makes me laugh all the time. He points to and identifies letters in a word and asks, 'What spell is it?' (What does that spell) or a bunch of words in a sentence and asks, 'What say is it?' (What does that say?) He can sing the ABCs almost perfectly (he gets mixed up around the LMNOP part) He enjoys playing the conga drums thanks to Elmo and his imagination (he doesn't have conga drums) and is just now starting to show an interest in music. He pretends to put things in my ear like bunny rabbits, spiders or food. He feeds me pretend food and drinks (He's a good cook.) But my favorite thing is watching him give his Daddy a hug and kiss, then saying ,'I wub you, Daddy.' I have to tell him to say it but it doesn't make it any less cute.
I can't put into works just how cute, funny, clever, creative, imaginative, and special he is. You have to see it for yourself. I miss our little baby but I love the little boy that has taken his place.
